If you have expertise in a medical, scientific, legal, financial, or business field and/or if you have extensive writing/editing experience in one of those areas, we'd like to hear from you. Working for TranscriptsNow is the perfect way to supplement your income while working from home in your spare time. We are more concerned with accuracy and quality of the transcript than how fast you type, although the faster you type, the better your hourly rate will be. You will be required to take a short transcribing test that will be judged for accuracy but not speed.

Our starting pay is $100 per hour of recording. This translates to an hourly rate of $20-25/hour if you type as fast as a professional transcriber or typist but could be $10/hour or less if you are slower. Be warned, an hour-long recording may be more than 10,000 words of typing, and that's alot, so please give some thought before applying as to whether this work is really for you.

You will receive notification of available transcribing jobs by email that you are free to accept or not accept as you wish. Everyone is paid the same, but new jobs are assigned on a merit basis, and new work notifications are sent more often to those who do the best work.

To be able to download the recordings, you must have high-speed Internet. Word 2003 or higher needed. You must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement and fill out a W9 or a W8 form. You are paid as an independent contractor and must withhold and pay your own taxes. If residing here, you must be legal to work in the United States. If you are in the United States under a work visa, even if you have a Social Security number, you are probably NOT eligible to apply for this position, so please don't apply unless you are. Applicants outside the US are welcome to apply but must do as well as native English speakers on the transcribing test to be considered.
